Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Ananyasāstram: An International Multidisciplinary Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, transparency, and ethical responsibility in scholarly publishing. Authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher are expected to adhere to internationally recognised ethical guidelines, including the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices.

This policy outlines the ethical responsibilities of all stakeholders in the publication process.

1. Author Responsibilities

Originality and Plagiarism

Submit only original work, properly citing all sources, including their own prior publications. Avoid plagiarism and self-plagiarism. All manuscripts are screened using Turnitin and reviewer assessment. Any detected case of plagiarism or redundant publication will result in rejection or retraction.

Use of AI Tools

AI tools may be used only to enhance language, grammar, and clarity. Authors remain fully responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and originality of their manuscripts.

Authorship

Authorship must be limited to individuals who have made a significant scholarly contribution to the work. All co-authors must be listed accurately, and contributions from non-authors should be acknowledged appropriately.

Data Integrity

Research data must be reported truthfully and without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation. Errors identified before or after publication must be immediately reported to the editor.

Research Involving Human Subjects

Studies involving human participants must comply with institutional, national, and international ethical standards. Informed consent must be obtained, and participants’ privacy, confidentiality, and rights must be respected.

Conflicts of Interest and Funding

Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest. Funding sources and institutional support should be acknowledged transparently.

2. Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Decline a review if a conflict of interest exists or if they are unable to complete it within the agreed timeframe.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, refraining from sharing or using manuscript content for personal advantage.
  • Provide objective, respectful, and evidence-based feedback to support editorial decisions and help authors improve their work.

3. Editor Responsibilities

  • Ensuring fair and impartial treatment of all submissions, without discrimination.
  • Maintaining confidentiality throughout the editorial process.
  • Managing conflicts of interest by recusing themselves from decisions where personal bias could arise.
  • Taking corrective action in cases of suspected misconduct, including issuing corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions.
  • Ensuring that submissions from editorial board members are handled independently by other qualified editors.

4. Publisher Responsibilities

  • Providing robust editorial management systems, plagiarism detection tools, DOI assignment, online hosting, and content archiving.
  • Safeguarding the editorial independence of the journal by ensuring decisions are made without commercial or external influence.
  • Promoting transparency, accountability, and long-term preservation of scholarly records.

5. Peer Review Confidentiality

The journal follows a double-anonymised peer review system, ensuring that the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential. Authors must prepare their manuscripts accordingly, avoiding identifying information. This process ensures impartiality and fairness in the evaluation of all submissions.

6. Commitment to Ethical Publishing

The Journal upholds the integrity of the academic record by aligning with COPE Core Practices and by ensuring that misconduct is investigated and addressed appropriately. Corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern are issued when necessary. Readers, authors, and institutions can trust the accuracy and credibility of published content.
