Plastics have revolutionized industries such as electronics, packaging, healthcare, and transportation due to their affordability, adaptability, and durability. However, their environmental persistence has led to severe pollution, posing significant threats to ecosystems and human health. Conventional disposal methods, including recycling, incineration, and landfilling, are inadequate in addressing plastic waste accumulation. Microbial biodegradation uses bacteria to break down plastic with microplastic acting as surface for microbial growth, forming the “plastisphere”. In this study, Bacillus spp. Were used to examine the Polythene degradation. The degradation assessed by viable cell count, cell density, weight loss and microscopy. Over 4 isolate the C4 show highest degradation of 0.55% and microscopy show the crack, pits and roughness on the Polythene that exposed to the microorganisms. Further research needed to examine which enzyme can be involved in the degradation
